Hi, I’m Gab
I’m Gabrielle de Vietri, and I’ve been representing you in the seat of Richmond, covering Collingwood, Fitzroy, Abbotsford, Clifton Hill, Richmond, Cremorne and Burnley. I’m also the Victorian Greens spokesperson for Housing and Renters, Peace & Disarmament and The Arts.
In just one term in Parliament, I’ve secured stronger rights for renters – ending no-grounds evictions and rental bidding, introducing heating, cooling and energy efficiency measures and ending third pay app fees. I’ve fought alongside the community to stop Labor’s demolition and privatisation of public housing. We’ve secured funding for local food relief, public schools, biodiversity programs and Landcare; we negotiated $30 million for new pedestrian and cycling infrastructure in the local area over the next 10 years. I’ve stood up against Victoria’s complicity in genocide, ending their partnership with ELBIT, Land Forces Weapons expo and their MoU with the Israeli Defense Ministry.
In 2022 we made history, winning the seat of Richmond after over 130 years of Labor dominance. Becoming a politician was never part of the plan, but after years of activism I saw how our democracy was being bought by wealthy donors and powerful lobby groups. And that this democracy is rigged in their favour.
Unlike the old major parties, I’ll never accept dodgy corporate donations from property developers, or the fossil fuels, weapons or gambling industries. So I can keep fighting, without compromise, for a home you can afford, a planet you can live on and a fair go for everyone.
